What's Your Fashion Style?

What’s your style?
What’s Your Style, a question that is answered whenever you meet in person, but a mystery within the anonymous surrounds of the WWW. A man much wiser than I once said that “You can tell a lot about a person by the clothes they wear.” In previous generations it defined class and prestige, a persons worth was measured by the cut of their wardrobe.
Back in Empirical England and pre-Revolutionary France the wealthy elite adorned themselves in regal apparel that was worth more than all the homeless ragware hanging on the starving masses. In Asia the finely crafted silks and lace that decorated the upper class were strikingly removed from the peasant garbs of the day.
This system is still superficially in place, what we subconsciously assume when we see a man in a tailor made business suit is different to that of a man in stubbies and thongs. The big swing today is that the rich, famous and loaded often opt for a society standard like jeans, sneakers or grunge. Some try to escape there materialism or cosmetic beauty by making a statement with a vagrant look, sometimes its just a side bar to psychological breakdown.
It works the other way too of course, for some what they wear is the first step to a new reality. Whether its for romance, career or ego not all that are wrapped in finery are flush with cash or success…yet.
More so than any other time in history the new millennium culture has the freedom of expression to choose whatever image you wish to project on the world around you. The old restrictions no longer apply and so your artificial social station can mean as little or as much as you like.
From Goth to Princess, Punk to Power dressing or urban to corporate the choices are limitless.
Personally I’d say I dress skater/traditional smart casual, then again when I was younger I ran the gamut or is that gauntlet of flavours. I was a surfer/skater before taking the Skinhead/Mohawk route via Goth for a while. Next came the frightening transformation into yuppie boy, fortunately within half a decade it was replaced by the long haired rocker/hippy thing which slowly morphed into a pseudo bohemian intellectual type.
There were a few more pit stops along the way that I would label faux-paus that I’d rather never speak of again. (Let’s just say for a short period I was a BIG fan of Duran Duran and Nik Kershaw)
So how about the visitors, whats your fashion style choice?
