Torrel and Nintendo launch street ware urban fashion
Torrel Torrel have established themselves as the first African American fashion label to be officially licensed by the NBA and NFL merchandising. Now they have expanded by unifying with Japanese mega corporation Nintendo for an original line of Urban Ware.
The range of street minded clothing was revealed last week in New York City with a catwalk show at the Nintendo world store in the Rockefeller Centre.
Over at allhiphop.com they are reporting the hyped bash was a success with great food, smokin’ tunes and importantly models strutting the gear around.
The torreltorrel website says that the agreement grants the right to use pop culture images like Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. The company is controlled by a father son team and 24 year old Torrel Jnr was largely instrumental in securing the lucrative deal.
Torrel Jnr says that “All through college I worked with my dad designing clothes, just helping out. Since I play a lot of videogames I got the idea to call up Nintendo for a clothing line…the Nintendo brand holds a lot of nostalgia for anyone who grew up ion the 80’s”.
Torrel jnr continues that the quality of the garments is a priority so the labour and materials used will ensure the product lasts. The bad news is the initial run is a limited release of 1000 items. All individually numbered and certified for authenticity.
The range includes jackets, hoodies and T- shirts all emblazoned with logo’s and impressive art work inspired by the more family friendly gaming console.
