Queens of Bling (LINK)

September 15th 2007 15:17
Designing a crown fit for a Queen is no simple feat but Jewellery Designers Ana and Contessa Nicolaou of Tessarella House have become quite the experts since being announced as the Exclusive Designers for Miss World Australia two years ago.

Ana and Contessa’s Tessarella House specializes in handmade creations ranging from amazing sparkly Swarovski crystal earrings, necklaces and broaches, to creations made out of semi-precious stones. Stepping into their store is more like stepping into a glam disco house than a jewellery store.

As the Stylist for Miss World I arrive in store excited at being able to steal the one opportunity within my hectic day to lay on the hot pink chaise, be seduced by a chocolate dipped strawberry, sip champers with excited brides and be welcomed into the fresh, distinctive and elegant Tessarella House of bling. My electric blue Jenny Bannister evening gown would not have been complete without the exclusive Tessarella House Swarovski crystal earrings and silver floral cuff. I loved the earrings so much I even wore them to bed. For a woman who never wears “bling” I think I have been converted.

Last year Tessarella’s creations were seen by 2.8Billion people and by 30M internet users a day throughout the Miss World competition, adorning the Miss World Ambassador at almost every red carpet charity ball across the country and on the Official Ambassador of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. With glamorous brides and formal goers aspiring for their creations, Ana and Contessa now know no leisure time.

This William Street House of Diva is a must visit location for any woman who values Bling.

We have all seen the power of the stylist. Before we knew it, Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe had Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Ritchie and Jessica Simpson all sporting drapey gowns over wispy thin bodies. One journalist touts that its only since Celebrities and Designers realised that revenue could be bought in from red carpet photographs, that the Stylist has forged a position in society on par to a Publicist and Celebrity Manager. They are THE ultimate accessory and Celebrities today dont leave home without them.

A new super power has emerged with the baby boom among CEO's, Supermodels and Hollywood's A-List - having on call one's very own Parisian Baby Stylist. I had the pleasure of catching up with the name in every starlets Little Black Book - Laetitia Lerouge

Blame Carrie Bradshaw and her Patricia Field Sex and the City ways, but it seems that the spring trend from the Northern Hemisphere is set to make its way down under. A more streamline and elegant alternative to the hobo and the tote bags we’ve seen lately, introducing the new day clutch

Silver Springs

Initially metallic fashion appeared to me to be something of a transient trend. For some reason to me, if something is shiny and popular, then it will fade fast. It seems however, that silvers and golds may one day be the epitome of noughties fashion. It has survived several seasons now, and continues to make an appearance on the catwalk. In a decade’s time, will we look back and cringe at how much glimmer made its way into our wardrobe at the start of the 21st century?

For now, there are a plethora of options available to those who can carry off some glam metal. For the more formal wear, for cocktail parties and nights out clubbing, Filippa K amongst many, have created some very cute mini dresses in shiny fabrics like the one below.
