Valentino Retires on a Red Dress Catwalk
News.com.au reports that after 45 years iconic fashion designer Valentino retired this week with one last fashion parade in Paris. Fittingly surrounded by 30 models adorned in the long red dresses that became his trademark, the show was part of the renowned Paris Haute Couture week.
Born in 1932 the Italian designer Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani, has dedicated his life to beautifying women. Building an empire in the process while dressing the celebrity and industry elite, his monumental legacy will live on.
Beginning his journey at 17 years old it is fitting that for his swan song Valentino returns to Paris, the city where he served his apprenticeship. An historic event for the man whose work will forever influence and define beauty and glamour, his final collection consisted of, according to news.com.au “flower-filled and elegant suiting and dresses”.
