Silver Springs

Initially metallic fashion appeared to me to be something of a transient trend. For some reason to me, if something is shiny and popular, then it will fade fast. It seems however, that silvers and golds may one day be the epitome of noughties fashion. It has survived several seasons now, and continues to make an appearance on the catwalk. In a decade’s time, will we look back and cringe at how much glimmer made its way into our wardrobe at the start of the 21st century?
For now, there are a plethora of options available to those who can carry off some glam metal. For the more formal wear, for cocktail parties and nights out clubbing, Filippa K amongst many, have created some very cute mini dresses in shiny fabrics like the one below.
While it’s not recommended you exit the house twinkling from head to toe, shiny accessories can be found to suit all tastes and budgets. To co-ordinate with the dress, you might choose some stunning strappy sandals, like these Jimmy Choo’s I found on Net-A-Porter. Yowza.
You can use silver to dramatise an outfit for a night out with accessories such as a glossy skinny belt with some black cigarette pants, or with one of many Alice bands available from chain stores like Diva and eQuip. Matching the outfit above, again on the more formal side, is this sweet clutch from Witchery.
You will be truly resplendent in your shimmery silver outfit, ready to take on the mirror ball on the dance floor for illuminate-ability!
On the more casual side, for weekends out window shopping or wandering the markets with girlfriends, try a silver top like this one found at Witchery with a pair of skinny jeans.
Flats in any shape or size would suit, like some silver ballet flats available anywhere from Parisian Ballets to Dotti and Target. For yummy-mummies or if comfort is a question, Skechers have made some very funky trainers in different styles, such as the one below. Truly modern and stylish, they will match any glittery girly outfit while enabling you to strut around all day without sore feet.
Possibly something better worn with a plain top than silver, an oversized tote would match perfectly, such as this flashy little number found at Bird Motel by One Teaspoon.
Glam it up! Head out in these ensembles, and you’ll set a dreary world aglow with radiance!

The first handbag.
I'd give the rest a miss,Chic, but the high heels appeal most and they are what I would be least likely ever to wear, top marks to those who can.

All the glitters isn't gold - though I suspect (for the time being at least) the cash registers will continue to resound to the 'cher-king' of the cash drawer and the 'swack swack' of the Amex.
Don't click those ruby red slippers just yet Dorothy - the tin man is still very much in fashion.

katyzzz - I know - it's not everyone's cup of tea - but those "Choos" are extraordinary aren't they?
MNG - You are in touch with your feminine side! And....beautiful summation of my post!

Another great post.
As much as I love what you have shown us in this post, I really can’t imagine wearing silver, CC. I do love the trainers though and can imagine wearing them, plus they look very comfy. And surely I would run faster in them seeing as they are so sparkly?

This post absolutely glistens (both the photos and the language)!
I just love silver--though I usually reserve it for my jewelry! (Come to think of it, a bit has been showing up in my hair, too, lately. LOL)
Take care!

I think if done right (and tastefully) the silver look is fantastic, for instance the first dress and those heels you posted together would look stunning and if you've got the figure to carry that look off definately go for it.
As for how we'll look back on this age of silver, well how do people look back on the whole flower power era of the sixties.

Thanks Jeanne - I know what you mean - my 'streaks' have been more salt than pepper lately too! Appreciate your kind words.
Sarah - You're right - if you've got the figure that look is definitely a great one - and given your example we we definitely cringe over this one day!
Thankyou all for your niceness and visits.
