Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2007

Here's another favourite show of mine from New York Fashion Week - Michael Kors. Such gorgeous pieces and the models are pretty good too!! The entire collection is quite minimal, but so very elegant. In recent years I'd become quite uninterested in Michael Kors' work but I'm loving it again with this show - back to classic Michael Kors, a nice improvement on his recent collections (although I did like this one). His choice of models is highly commendable, selecting those that can really pull off the simplicity of the pieces. All the girls look gorgeous and the boys...HOT.
I think the song "So Fresh, So Clean" by Outkast sums up the collection best - "Don't you think I'm so sexy I'm dressed so fresh so clean".
Mike Guenther and Caroline Trentini opened the show with smooth and stylish outfits. Trentini looks wonderful, and I love the jacket she's wearing - very fresh and charming!
Gemma Ward was up next, also looking terrific! I love what she has on, especially the skirt - it's so chic and timeless. Not something to stop your heartbeat, but it definitely showcases Kors' typical classic American style.
I love what Eugenia Volodina is wearing - one of my favourite outfits in the collection.
I'm in love with both of these dresses - Lily Donaldson always wears the finest frocks.
It's the clothes that make the show wonderful of course, but having Hilary Duff and Usher in the front row doesn't hurt...
You'll undoubtedly be expected to pay exorbitant prices for it, but it truly is a timeless and elegant collection!

Not being a fashionista the whole scene often confuses me. Why, I ask, is that popular but this not? I try to understand it but the models just look rediculous and I wonder if the designers are just taking the piss.
Then you come across a collection that is really simple, but for some reason blows you away with it's ability to make men and women look sexy/cool/stunning/etc.
It's like poetry for clothing- simplicity that smacks you between the eyes because it just says something awesome.
I reckon this stuff is a good example of that. Very sexy.
Some people just have amazing ability. So jealous of those people.

Grant, the popularity of a trend can be determined by so many things...but often, if it appears frequently in one area of popular culture, it's likely to be popular...for example, clothing that is worn by a lot of celebrities will inevitably become a trend, and of course, runway clothing has long been viewed as "trendsetting". Magazines and fashion critics also play a large part in deciding what's hot/not. But ultimately, fashion is all relative. Something that's hideous to one person can be so cool to another. In fact, many people may view the collection above as bland.
