L.A. Fashion Week

If you were wondering why I appeared to ignore the existence of L.A. Fashion Week, it's because I was crazy-busy with uni assignments that week and the next. I finally got a chance to check out the shows over the weekend, and loved what I saw of California style. Held from October 13 to October 20, Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '07 featured many laid-back, casual pieces, especially short shorts, mini skirts, and spring dresses. Of course, the inevitable itsy bitsy bikini also made several appearances, as well as some elaborate eveningwear from a couple of international designers. Ashley Paige, Frankie B, and Tart were on my list of top collections, but what excited me the most about the event was the presence of Samaire Armstrong and her ever-gorgeous outfits. Here are some of my favourite images from the week...
Ashley Paige brought back the 60's with her bright, bold swimsuits and beachwear. She also created a lot of controversy with the inclusion of a young girl wearing a teeny weeny bikini in the parade of skimpy swimwear. The schoolgirl, who was roughly around the age of 10, was considered by some to have been inappropriately sexualised. I'm not sure what Paige's reasons were for the stunt, but it certainly attracted a lot of attention to the scant, sexy collection.
Metro 7 is actually an urban womenswear brand exclusive to Wal-Mart. "What’s Wal-Mart? Do they sell like wall stuff there?". No, Paris, they're actually a supplier of general goods at "always low prices", and hence I was massively surprised to see their inexpensive apparel showing at a fashion week. However, the silhouettes were unexpectedly current, including waist belts, tunics, fedoras, shortalls, and flirty spring dresses, so I was quite pleasantly surprised. The quality of the pieces is yet to be seen though. With a maximum price point of US$55, I'm not expecting those pleather jackets to feel anything like leather.
Samaire looked so nice at L.A. Fashion Week - her outfits were hot as always, and her dark hair was stunning! This red clutch she seems to love is so pretty and is clearly the kind of bag that can look gorgeous with any outfit. I'm really feeling the dress and jacket ensemble on the right too - so cute and so her!

Yeah Target's not bad! I know a girl who's really self-conscious about wearing Target clothes though haha
