Yes, it's the most beautiful bag!

January 6th 2008 12:57
May I present to you, one of the most beautiful bags available now in stores around Australia! And I am actually talking about one very specific bag I found today and bought as a gift for my sister.

Some might say it's a little late to report this bag now as the price has already been reduced, which means that it’s been available for quite some time. But ah well, I still want to share it with you anyway. As I kind of guessed, the only possible reason why the store I went to still has more stocks of the bag is because they put them on a very low shelf (that I think not many people would notice).

The bow definitely is the star!

Say hello to Jigsaw, one of the most well-known fashion brands existing now in Australia. The bag I bought is a pink satin clutch bag with a lovely big sequined bow. It just caught my eye as I was walking inside the store and I knew right away my sister would love it. The bag originally cost $179, which is crossed on the tag with a red pen marking the reduced price of $99. The price didn’t stop there by the way, for no apparent reason I asked if the price was further reduced, and yes, it is apparently has been reduced to $69!

I really think this is a very good bargain for a beautiful expensive-looking bag. And as for those who are not into pink, don't worry, the bag is also available in black which is just as pretty!

Ode to an Italian Dress

DOlce and Gabbana Summer 08 PAINTED BLACK DRESS
All images from http://eng.dolcegabbana.it

Flamboyant and theatrical, Dolce and Gabbana’s Summer 2008 collection is indeed replete with works of art. From the hand-painted fabrics, the obsession with intricate embellishments and details to the matte velvet lips, D & G invoke a Keats-ian realm - instead of a Grecian urn, this is my ode to an Italian dress

Which Bag do I invest in? (LINK)

September 13th 2007 14:58
Fashion handbags are now a $5 billion industry, and a growing number of women are renting bags instead of buying them. Girls go online, choose their handbag, pay a monthly subscription and within three to five working days the bag arrives at your door, lovingly packaged and including a cheat sheet that gives handy hints on keeping your purse in pristine shape.
People are now even blogging how they feel about their handbags. Favourites are Balenciaga, Gucci, Fendi, Kate Spade, Chloe and Burberry.

Blame Carrie Bradshaw and her Patricia Field Sex and the City ways, but it seems that the spring trend from the Northern Hemisphere is set to make its way down under. A more streamline and elegant alternative to the hobo and the tote bags we’ve seen lately, introducing the new day clutch

Silver Springs

August 17th 2007 03:42
Initially metallic fashion appeared to me to be something of a transient trend. For some reason to me, if something is shiny and popular, then it will fade fast. It seems however, that silvers and golds may one day be the epitome of noughties fashion. It has survived several seasons now, and continues to make an appearance on the catwalk. In a decade’s time, will we look back and cringe at how much glimmer made its way into our wardrobe at the start of the 21st century?

For now, there are a plethora of options available to those who can carry off some glam metal. For the more formal wear, for cocktail parties and nights out clubbing, Filippa K amongst many, have created some very cute mini dresses in shiny fabrics like the one below.

Tokidoki meets LeSportsac

August 1st 2007 11:55
When I first met tokidoki it was through a cute carry bag in which I found on a forum back in the ninth grade. Ever since then, I have fallen in love with this extremely cute brand which sells a range of merchandise from jewelry to bambinos to watches to belt buckles and now even t-shirts.

Just a few weeks ago, I was in my office kitchen and one of my colleagues had a very cute, tokidoki like backpack. I soon found out that the brand of the bag was called LeSportsac when I visited Singapore just two weeks ago and once again, I instantly fell in love with the design. Being a curious person, when I returned to Australia, I logged onto the LeSportsac website to take a look at their items only to spot possibly, in my opinion the cutest collaboration ever. Tokidoki had collaborated with LeSportsac

Snatch-proof handbags

June 18th 2007 00:59
Having had a handbag snatched off my person on Cleveland Street last year I’ve been a little more wary of this particular fashion accessory. After all, I not only lost the bag (beautiful black leather with pink and white candy striped lining) but worst of all my notebook! Thankfully, designers this year have taken this general concern into account with the inclusion of the detachable shoulder strap. So when walking through a dodgy part of the city you can sling your sac around your body in an effort to prevent further heartbreak (and lost genius in the form of moleskines.)

In my habitual internet trawlings I came across quite a feat on the Prada website. Admittedly I didn’t much like this season’s collection but the means by which it is represented is a true cultural document. Prada demonstrates wit, self-reflexivity and pastiche in a way that many other ‘postmodernists’ should envy. As a European luxury brand, descended from a grand tradition to a commercial reality, Prada is a modern day icon but the self-representation offers an entirely new perspective on the brand.

French, a singer and daughter of Serge, Charlotte Gainsbourg had to be gorgeous. Obviously inheriting more of her actress/model mother's (Jane Birkin of Hermes Birkin bag fame) looks than her brooding crooner dad. Recently she gained greater Australian exposure in The Science of Sleep, starring alongside Gael Garcia Bernaz as a Parisienne neighbour gradually drawn into a world of fantasy and phantasm. As you can see in this picture there was minimal attention paid to her hair and makeup, her wardrobe was dowdy and still she radiates beauty.

After visiting the Victoria and Albert exhibition which travelled to the National Gallery in Canberra a few years ago, I’ve been obsessed with Vivienne Westwood. It’s not just that she’s sixty and has a beautiful thirty-year-old Italian lover, although that does impress me, and it’s not just that she’s been an inspiration for generations of fashionistas, mostly it’s because for Westwood, fashion is thought

One of the most striking models of the contemporary brat pack is Jessica Stam, a statuesque Canadian who has the kind of natural physique required for catwalk shows. She is indeed long and slender but there is nothing painful about the proportions of her legs or the position of her clavicle. My general rule is that if the knee is wider than the thigh there’s a problem but Stam is in proportion as you can see from the Stella McCartney show.
