Girls in White Dresses
July 26th 2007 14:25
Perhaps it's the weather warming up.....but I'm starting to feel like it might be time. Time for my pale winter skin to be exposed to the sun, to take off the tights and singlets, to start wearing dresses again!
This season we're spoilt for choice with so many pretty white spring dresses and blouses. It's all about frilly femininity and gorgeous lines in different shapes. There is a little bit of hippy, a little bit of romance, but mostly loose, flowing and dainty. The best thing is - that our Aussie labels have triumphed in this look.
Fleur Wood has presented a handsome spring range, oozing with girly charm, as shown above with the "So Lovely" dress. Zimmermann have also come through with pieces like below, showcasing cinched waists, mini skirts with a delicate quality.

Lover has long been associated with the more girlish of designs, and this season is no exception. Taking advantage of the feminine fad, they have also released some very "spesh" goods, like blouses (so much girlier than 'shirts') such as shown below.
Other local designers to produce collections with items in this feel are Matthew Eager, Anna Thomas, Lee Mathews and Marnie Skillings amongst others. Thankfully, some of the more modestly priced labels are also continuing with this trend, to make it an affordable option for the rest of us. Chains like Witchery, Country Road and Jigsaw continue with the ladylike leaning with dresses and blouses in this style.
Team your dress or blouse with a cool combination of bold accessories; like some coloured ballet flats from Parisian Ballets or Salvios, a colourful vintage brooch and some hot shades. It's all very Kirstin Dunst in Virgin Suicides.
Uh oh, I've just ruined another blog......![/COLOR]

I enjoyed very much the Virgin Suicides movie, it was sort of inspiring at the time.. the story I mean, not the suicide part, of course
Kirsten Dunst's style in person has never been wrong to me.. she always follows her heart.

I actually meant I now can't write about Kirsten Dunst in Virgin Suicides. I've been doing Fashion in Film and that would have been a good one!
Guess I still can - later!
Cheers!
