The Mr T fashion Show!

November 28th 2007 00:11
You read correctly, this is The Mr T fashion Show

Mr T
Mr T will always turn heads

Adorned in pimp daddy, Mac Stylin’ bling, a cyber punk rocker Mohawk and menacing image, no one can ever accuse Laurence Tureaud a.k.a. Mr T of not having his own individual fashion sense. But why inflict it on others?

Ever imagine what it would be like if bad ass B.A Baracus hosted fashion TV. Me neither, but his real life kiddie friendly, gentle giant alter ego obviously did. I stumbled upon this footage late last night and it has invaded my rudimentary consciousness ever since.

B.A Baracus - I pity the fool who buys designer labels

Filmed back in the 1980’s, this work in street chic urban ware is less of a blast from the past and more of a neutron dance. A fluorescent flashing neon light that represents the era with the same thoroughness as a Miami Vice episode.

It’s frightening to think how outrageously far outside the box 80’s garments dared to go. Screaming for attention, at the same time off putting and clownish, yet it somehow worked back then.

The A-team
The A-team of fashion 911?

Enough about the clothes, back to Clubber Lang. Having Mr T as the presenter on this glass of Max-Headroom-Geek-Boy Tab cola adds a time capsule appeal, it’s a postcard to a generation.

Mr T Rocky 3
In Rocky 3

Before Mr T became an overnight sensation as Clubber Lang in Rocky 3 he was a respected celebrity bodyguard. His clients included Steve McQueen, Bruce Lee, Muhammad Ali and Michael Jackson.

Remaining in the spotlight after Sylvester Stallone discovered him in a Worlds Strongest Man Competition, T again became a household character name as B.A Baracus in The A-Team.

You have all waited long enough. So now here it is. For your viewing pleasure. The Mr T Fashion show, 80’ style. - Warning content may blind some viewers.

Designing a crown fit for a Queen is no simple feat but Jewellery Designers Ana and Contessa Nicolaou of Tessarella House have become quite the experts since being announced as the Exclusive Designers for Miss World Australia two years ago.

Ultra thin is not 'in' (LINK)

September 15th 2007 15:16
There was a time when a woman's wealth was recognized by her rubenesque figure. Today Paris Hilton lookalikes are revered and every womens magazine don't print without them. Governments around the world are now taking action to address the unrealistic body image expectations placed upon the worlds modelling industry. The Australian Fashion Council hosted a forum in March to discuss and debate whether or not industry guidelines are necessary to discourage the use of extraordinarily thin models on Australian runways and to ensure the health and wellbeing of Young Australians working as fashion models.

More importantly it raises the discussion that Designers and media have an ethical obligation to set the right role models for the youth of today

Swimming costumes, bathers, togs, swimsuits or just 'cossie'; all names for the nylon / cotton / lycra combination we like to slip into when we go to the beach or to the pool to dip our bodies into water and have a paddle around.

With all the recent hype about the production of the sequel, "The Lost Boys 2", I was sent back to 1987, when the original film hit cinemas. The Joel Schumacher directed teen-horror flick includes a stellar ensemble cast including Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Dianne Wiest, “The Coreys” (Haim and Feldman), and Jami Gertz. The movie was named after the gang of eternal youngsters that follow Peter Pan through Neverland, echoing the immortality of the vampires. Check this clip for a cool montage of the film and its dark and sexy ambience.

I'm gonna live forever! FAME! The Movie- pic from visiontv.ca

Hitting our screens in 1980 was the Alan Parker directed film Fame. Originally titled Hot Lunch after one of the main songs in the film, the new name came about as a result of a porn film being released around the same time that already had that title. Good choice
