Ever wonder what the fashion industry is really like?

Sex, crime, dirty designer secrets and a whole lot of cocaine, this book dishes out all the goss.
It’s called Fashion Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones author of top selling novels such as Hotel Babylon and Air Babylon.
Edwards-Jones has a very unique technique; she interviews people within the industry in which she is researching (in this case, fashion) and then puts together all the stories she’s collected in novel form, centred on fictional main characters, but also featuring well known figures. The result is a novel that at times seems quite forced and disjointed. Its real strength lies not in its style but in the fact that the stories are both true and ridiculously entertaining.
You will not believe what designers, models and the like can get away with, from including a Marks and Spencer blouse in their runway collection to catching a STDs from other models, Edwards-Jones, with the help of her many anonymous sources unflinchingly tells it like it is. She sometimes names names, while other times leaves tantalising hints that just barely keep you guessing. If you have an interest in the fashion or celebrity industry, then I’d strongly recommend you read this book. I guarantee that your jaw will drop.
