Probably Tokyo, right? Condom Couture!

September 10th 2007 08:24
I'm about to do something uncharacteristic.

I'm going to:
a) post a whole lot of pictures when I don't know their source, so I'm very sorry if they're your photos, just send me a message if I'm violating any copyright laws
b) complete a post with very little text.....you know me....I love a good ramble
c) post pictures that aren't really about fashion as such, although it's in the guise of fashion, but definitely in the realm of tacky.....(also what I would like to consider unusual for me...!)

I'm guessing these are from Tokyo.....'cause really.....where else would they be from? All of these pictures are of outfits made from condoms. Some are truly incredible and very creative which is why I'm sharing. Thanks to my buddy "chattabox" for sending them to me.

My favourite is the cheong-sam....very pretty! What do you guys think?

**Apologies for the Melbourne Fashion Week Review-us Interruptus. I'll be back with more tomorrow!***

Gross. I don't really see a point to it, but at least the clothes would be water resistant.

I once saw a fashion show where they had someone in this hot pink vinyl that was like a giant condom you put over your head and went to your knees. Your arms were locked to your sides and there was a hole for your face. Brings a whole new connotation to safe sex; I wouldn't sleep with someone who wore this.

P.S it was men's wear.

Gross, too.

No thank you, but the colours and the bubbles(?) are great, and yes the designs are sensational.

Who's kidding who on 'this is the way to go'.

Some of those models look like they've passed their 'use by' date, if you know what I mean.

Yep, it's all a bit on the crook side.....I have to agree with you all.

And it took everything in me not to subtitle the wedding dress as "gives a new meaning to here comes the bride".

Ew.....sorry.

Funny pics!

I wonder how long it took to get all the lube out of each one.

Some of them actually looked like nice designs...if they were made of silk or something rather than rubber contraceptive devices! Very creative though, in an ick kind of way. At least you would "feel like you're wearing nothing".

Intriguing post, CC!

Hello gorgeous...good to see you back.

Sorry I haven't been enOrbling...I'm away and just making sporadic visits.

I remember reading something about a Brazilian designer, Bernini? Benini? doing Condom Couture, stuff like this for AIDS awareness...it was a travelling fashion show...I'm not too sure, someone will have to do a search...I'm on limited laptop battery time!

The point was that condoms are always in fashion!

Some of the stuff Bernini(?) designed was incredible...I do like some of these designs...I wonder if the same designer did these?

I hope you're well Chic-ita

mwah, mwah...Moi...

You can tell by the writing and the cheong-sam that it is actually China. The Japanese wear kimonos.
It would help that you also posted the main reason behind the fashion show, to promote AIDS awareness. Hence, using condoms to add emphasis in practising safe sex.

A bit unusual yes, but at least it caught people's attention.

Always Eighteen - gross thought but true - unless they didn't??

I agree Michaelie - if they weren't made out of condoms, I'd consider wearing some of them!

Thanks for the info Dusky - I thought it might have been something like that - again, you with the journalistic inside information! Hope you've been enjoying your time away and thanks for visiting to you guys.

Anonymous - who has appropriately hidden their identity.....Thanks for commenting....and thanks for 'straightening me out'. I did say I had no idea where they were from, so I appreciate the update, but next time, you can probably keep that tone to yourself. We want to keep Orble a nice community, thankyou.
