The wife of someone famous becomes a role model?
Unknown in Australia, footballers wife Colleen McLoughlin has beaten out the likes of Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Lilly Allen to be voted Britains #1 fashion role model in a recent Look magazine poll.
Personally I have never heard of her and Lilly Allen would have taken the top prize for me. Proving that celebrity by association is as good as the real thing. Colleen first came to the nations attention at 16 years old and has since gained notice in gossip publications.
Searching the net for info it appears Coleen contributes little other than shopping all day, going on holiday and of course soaking up the limelight. Granted she has exploited her celebrity status and scored a job on TV where she promotes plus sized models and of course does the token public image charity thing too.
It’s quite sad that such an empty vessel could be role model for anyone. Still the voters were probably the same ones who used to envy Paris Hilton before the media backlash.
I’m sure she will probably get her own fashion line soon and put her name to some exotic fragrance. I know I'm being a bit harsh here, but the word role model to me infers some sort of substance, something to aspire too instead of window dressing.
From an article in telegraph.co.uk
Look magazine's editor, Ali Hall, said: "Coleen has transformed herself from Puffa-jacket schoolgirl to style icon in just a few years.”
"Women relate to her as she's more shapely than your average Wag.”
"She doesn't mind splashing out on a designer 'it' item but mixes it with the great stuff available on the high street.”
"She's not afraid to try out the latest trends but will hold her hands up and admit she gets it wrong sometimes.”
