The Unforgettable Faces of Fashion

Jackie Kennedy

As London’s fashion week attracts international attention and fashionistas the world over go ga-ga for the latest designs a website called womensboots.com has had its staff compile a list of the “Most Influential Fashion Icons of the past 100 years.”

Divided into decades, the subjective compilation is naturally filled with recognizable names and memorable contributions to the way we dress and think about wardrobe.

Designers, movie stars, royalty, journalists and celebrities in general make up the numbers. Who do you think deserves to be included, who did they under rate and why?

Ode to an Italian Dress

DOlce and Gabbana Summer 08 PAINTED BLACK DRESS
All images from http://eng.dolcegabbana.it

Flamboyant and theatrical, Dolce and Gabbana’s Summer 2008 collection is indeed replete with works of art. From the hand-painted fabrics, the obsession with intricate embellishments and details to the matte velvet lips, D & G invoke a Keats-ian realm - instead of a Grecian urn, this is my ode to an Italian dress

The size of the size zero debate

September 27th 2007 07:25
The size zero debate is the new black, the latest fashion trend, which, like all fads, is probably not wise to buy (into) too much. I am not saying that the emaciated idealisation of the female body is not a problem, but that the media and public response is on the side of hysteria. For some perspective on my perspective, it should be known that I am not a size zero. I am not six foot tall, and I do not know anyone that has come under the attack of this new moralizing discourse.

Tristan Blair - What Else!

September 11th 2007 17:56
It's fair to say after trawling boutique after fabulous boutique in this beautiful city, there is noone aside from Massarro of course, who quite puts the same shine on a pair of shoes than Australian Designer Tristan Blair.

He is elusive, demure and completely humble about his creativity. I once attempted to help him source a shoe manufacturer in Brazil. He had become great friends with a man and his chicken in Bali and was loathe to change. Given my experiences in working with Brazilian timeframes I can understand why. Nothing quite happens fast enough in that country. Needless to say in a Summer that sports cotton candy and casual style you cant go past his new collection "Wonderful Armour
