Chloe Platform Wedges

I might have crapped on in the past about how ugh I am towards wedges, but Chloe's Spring 2006 collection of platform wedges won me over, and the steady trickle of copies into chain stores has gotten me very excited! If you're not a wedges girl normally, you should try the Chloe ones, or a pair of copies, because they're not only fashionable, but quite versatile too. Their unique design allows for usage in all seasons - wear them alone in summer or with stockings/socks when the weather gets colder. Also, because the wedge is made completely from wood, it won't fall apart if it gets wet. They may look awkward and unwearable, but wedges are usually much more comfortable than their equally high-heeled stiletto cousins. Chunky = comfy!

If you can't afford an authentic Chloe pair, check out the many inspired versions in chain stores right now. Senso has some knock-offs in black, brown and cream. You can get them for $165 at Zomp - they look pretty wicked in this month's Shop Til You Drop!

I love love love the black tie Mary Jane wedges, but if you're after a t-bar pair, there are some inspired ones in Nine West, on sale for $79! They're just so cool with their earthy brown leather and hot buckle straps.

Those black tie wedges really are cute! I agree that wedges are surprisingly comfortable. Well-made wooden soles are often much easier to wear than cheaper flexible soles.

I dunno... they just look so chunky! How tall do women need to be, anyway?

Sisi,

Glad it's you into fashion and not me, my thongs are feeling very comfortable if decidedly unfashionable.

Nothing deters the young.

Yep I agree Adele

Cibby it's not always about height...I like wearing heels/wedges/high shoes because it elongates my legs so that I go from average height to long and leggy!! Haha

I wish more people were like you katyzzz!! You've made it clear that these are not your style without belittling my taste, and just for the record, I also love thongs

Aren't they beautiful Lily! I wish my Mum and I were the same size...she's half a size smaller so I can squeeze if I really want to but usually it's not worth the pain haha...thanks for dropping by!

PS. Thanks for the plug to your daughter

they are, they look comfy and i want some!!!

the daughtie, i'm half a size smaller (and she's still growing) but she still wears em anywayz...

was wondering, as i need some advice; how do you convince a girl, who has the most beautiful natural strawberry blonde hair with natural highlights, not to dye it 'solid chocolate brown' like every other girl is???? .. (i said yes for peace sake lol)

ps. you're welcome, i enjoyed the catwalk..

ohh i'm not sure i know how to convince a girl of that, but maybe you could tell her the story of the 19-year-old girl who's never been to a hairdresser in her life and has the same hair colour she was born with and hasn't died of boredom yet...true story...

i'm sorry i'm not much help! but honestly, if she wants to stand out, having her hair the same colour as every other girl is not the way...i admit that chocolate brown is a versatile colour and suits many girls, but in my opinion, most people look best with their natural hair colour...there are, of course, exceptions (eg Nicole Richie in this post)...i've always thought the best artificial colouring for natural blondes is a light browney blonde...but i'm sure she looks beautiful either way

yeah super super comfy, but i find them to be not so durable...that's probably because i've never tried wooden ones though...mine are all quite self-destructive...these wooden ones look much stronger

I understand that people sometimes fall victim to trends. But what I don't understand is why some/most people don't see that they are actually "victims". Chunky heels are in, okay, we get it. Chunky heels go with mini-skirts, a boy shorts, and dresses, and skinny jeans. Okay, okay, okay. But what is not said is that if you are a size twenty-four and you do not have well-defined ankles, it is a bad idea to look at, try-on, buy, wear, contemplate buying chunky heels or wedges, be them Chloe or Payless.

gnrlstudies thanks for your comment! I agree that chunky heels/wedges look better with defined ankles, but I actually think if you're a size twenty-four, chunky heels/wedges are a better option for bigger bodies/legs as they help balance your look. In my opinion, stick-thin stilettoes look a little out of place in a big girl's outfit.

I have a pair of the copied version platform wedges from mollini.
I love them so much, they are so comfortable..took me awhile to get used to walking in them...but my feet never hurt after I have worn them for a day (or 5!!)

Hi Anon! Those wedges were actually from several seasons ago (but I still love them, and would wear them anyways) so unfortunately I don't think you can buy them in store anymore. However, you could have a look on eBay, I'm sure there will be a few floating around!
