Pictured here all fresh faced and delightful is Daria Werbowy of Canada. Werbowy, like Jessica Stam, passes my knee test (if the thigh is wider than the knee then the model is not sick) and not only that but she exhibits an intelligence one may not expect from models. Maybe she’s simply learned to feign intent with those blue eyes of hers, or perhaps I’m prejudiced because she’s brunette but I do think there’s something more in Werbowy’s brain than is usually held in the mind of a model.

Take this shot from Stella McCartney’s recent show for example. Surely there is a wit, a glint and some meaning behind that smirk other than, I’m the fairest of them all. McCartney serves Werbowy’s interests well in this adoption of au naturale makeup allowing for some rather striking features to remain the focus.

Perhaps these are some of the reasons she is a favourite of Karl Lagerfield, a Chanel poster girl and catwalk regular. Do you not agree that there is something beguiling in this advertisement for Chanel? Her visage speaks of a laissez faire attitude; “Sure my ensemble is worth a small fortune but it would be nothing if I wasn’t wearing it.” Or something like that.

And finally to Valentino. Renowned for his glamourous romance and bewitching of texture, Valentino and Werbowy were always going to work well together. With some particularly olive skin, pouting lips and movie star hair, this is a stunning look.
