THE REAL Galliano UNCOVERED!!

May 18th 2008 20:34
Securing an interview with international fashion celebrity and Designer extraordinaire John Galliano before Christmas and the pending launch of his Menwear Collection is no easy task.
But I have to say every one of those calls to the PR was worth it! I just had to share with you Galliano's perspectives on the modern woman.

"To me the modern woman is sexy - because she is self-assured and self-made. A woman today knows her own mind, she knows her own style and her tastes and she will not compromise"

I think that women know their shape and should know and understand and love their own assets. I think women should wear lingerie as the mood takes them, that suits their personality as well as their clothes – if they want an extra lift, an extra pad all well and good – mix it up or match it – but whatever you do don’t take it too seriously - just have fun and show it off! They should work it, Girl!!!

Everyone is beautiful and I think curves are in fact a woman’s greatest weapon – and her greatest asset. I think that we all come in all shapes and sizes and why can’t we all look and feel great? Everyone wants to be sexually attractive and have people tell them that they've tapped into their sexual power. Unfortunately, when was the last time you heard a man say to a woman, "You look beautiful"? I'm into it. But it's a dying trade. Women are women and hooray for that!

Re: Vanity Sizing - I believe in believing in yourself, dressing for yourself, and dressing to fit. I think that fashion is there to enhance the fantasy, the person you want to be. A woman should be proud of the size and shape that you are. It’s a cliché but true – believe in yourself and the rest will follow. I love women. I love work. Hide that tummy, elongate that neck, shade the butt. I enjoy it. I'm an accomplice to helping women get what they want. I just love it!

Lingerie has always been for the world's couturiers the foundation on which all things rest. For international fashion celebrity and designer extraordinaire, John Galliano, it is in the fantasy and the froth!

I just loved his challenge to the establishment and his tenderness towards women. The sensitivity of paying tribute to his success as a Designer to being given his bold sense of colour from his mother and to sew his first button on from his father...

Inspiring isnt it!

One of the most striking models of the contemporary brat pack is Jessica Stam, a statuesque Canadian who has the kind of natural physique required for catwalk shows. She is indeed long and slender but there is nothing painful about the proportions of her legs or the position of her clavicle. My general rule is that if the knee is wider than the thigh there’s a problem but Stam is in proportion as you can see from the Stella McCartney show.
