The picture does better than my feeble description. Personally, I think it's an oddball fashion choice, but the men on the internet are in favour. From InventorSpot:

Of course, it helps that the advertising for these jeans involve slender, sexy Japanese women. What about when this trend hits the street? Are we going to have a resurgence of the muffin top?
