Fashion handbags are now a $5 billion industry, and a growing number of women are renting bags instead of buying them. Girls go online, choose their handbag, pay a monthly subscription and within three to five working days the bag arrives at your door, lovingly packaged and including a cheat sheet that gives handy hints on keeping your purse in pristine shape.
People are now even blogging how they feel about their handbags. Favourites are Balenciaga, Gucci, Fendi, Kate Spade, Chloe and Burberry.
Bags - they always fit - even more so than shoes. There is no discrimination on height or weight in a bag. Buying an oversized bag makes a woman feel like she is getting more for her money. Oversized bags make our bum look smaller. But why if Bags are non-sizeist and non-ageist - did someone start turning them into Small, Medium, Large and XXL. There are
only 10 IT women in the world that can move IT handbags. An IT bag is created in the pages of Celeb weeklies by the arms of women who donate their own It-ness to the bag - and whilst the trend of our favourite icons are still shrinking, our bags are still growing.
There is a thought that bags can even change our personality from day to day. Like a disguise that we put on with our perfume in the morning and take off with our makeup in the evening. So if Condolilla Rice never carries a handbag does that mean she doesnt have a personality???
Fashion tip - Dont buy a bag that screams "on trend" or "look how much cash I have", your bag should reflect a part of you it should reflect your life.
THE TREND OF 2007 is that the most important label should be seen in your hands - not necessarily on the back of your neck.
