Today the web is a buzz with the announcement of a new film to be titled Coco Avant Chanel or Coco Before Chanel. Scoring the title role of the Haute Couture queen of last century is French darling Audrey Tautou.

Tautou (Da Vinci Code, A Very Long Engagement, Dirty Pretty Things) gained fame creating a fashion statement of her own as the character of Amelie and is now one of the most recognized Gaelic actresses alive.

Where is that girl?

On firstlook.com they report that "It isn't really a biopic because it is about Chanel before she became famous, it is about the events and people that shaped her."

Tracing her early years, Gabrielle (Coco) was born in 1883 and opened her first shop in 1912. Her mother died when she was 6 years old and her father abandoned his five siblings, leaving them to fend for themselves. She got the name “Coco” in the first decade of the 1900’s when she was working as a singer in cafes and live concerts. Source womenshistory.com
Coco Chanel - “Success is often achieved by those who don't know that failure is inevitable.”

Before starring in the CC biopic Directed by Actress/Writer/Director Anne Fountaine (Nathalie, How I Killed My Father), Audrey is replacing Nicole Kidman as the face of Chanel No. 5 perfume in a brand new advertising campaign.

A report on montstersandcritics.com says that the exciting part about this commercial is it reunites the 5ft. 3in. star with her Amelie Director Jean Pierre Jeunet. (Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, A very Long Engagement) Expect to see the ad online once it appears on French TV.

Wow.
She is ridiculously pretty.
Thanks for the update, I'd heard rumors about the film but it's nice to know the beautiful Audrey will feature.
