High Heels - A male perspective?
I apologise in advance for being a low brow boy, but I couldn’t resist doing a post on high heels, naturally just to find some great leg shots. It’s also an excuse to indulge in my foot fetish. A well selected pair of heels can be like flashing neon in Vegas to us guys.
Forcing the calf muscles to contract and expand, some open enough to show of the podiatrist factory. Sexy and Arching the heel up, wether it’s a pump, block, tapered, blade, wedge or the mighty dangerous stiletto.
Making any pair of legs appear that little bit longer, sleeker, I will go on record as saying “These do not look like practical footwear for everday use”. There seems a prerequisite that the wearer must have the balance of a cirque de soleil acrobat to stay in certain eye of a needle pairs.
The history of the heel starts in France in the 1500’s and sees it designed for men’s boots when horse riding so that they stay in the stirrup. Soon modified for formal occasions, by the mid women had caught on after seeing Catherine de' Medici, in a tailor made pair.
Seen as a sign of wealth, after dropping out of fashion the shoe re-emerged in the 1800’s, this time predominantly for women. Today they serve their function accessorizing the business suit with an added sense of confidence.
At formal black tie affairs they are all but essential.
The versatility of the high heel is never more pronounced when hitting the town. They can endow the wearer to exude signals that says everything from graceful elegance to slutty whore depending on the dress, jeans or any other accompanying clothing.
Dictated by the varied cut and shape, colour and size range. The heel is almost a female sneaker sans the comfort factor.
