Learn to be fashion smart

fashion intelligence
Can the two bond?

What is fashion? How do you become more wardrobe conscious? These are two of the many riddles ruminated on in a Timesofindia.indiatimes.com article titled “fashion takes intelligence.”

Written in response to the recent cultural trend away from superficial appearances and towards intelligence (Its about time!), the post attempts to define “fashion” and says,
“Real fashion involves subtle yet tasteful elegance, and says who you are – after all what's on the outside is really an expression of who you are.”

Going on step by step to observe the cerebral challenges of maintaining that “chic’ look without appearing to try, important stuff, no?

The first rule is learn the lingo. I won’t list them all because you really should read the thoughtful musings for yourself by clicking HERE.

One guideline I absolutely agree with is “Soul Searching”. Find out who you are and what wardrobe and accessories accentuate your individual personality.

fashion choices
What do these looks say about the wearer?

Another that caught my eye is “Invoke your Creativity”, embrace the art of design. Essentially it’s the less is more rule, dress with a strategy. Choose singular items that express the signals desired and that work together without clashing.

Personally I’m not sure about the smarts it takes to look good and dress well. I will acknowledge that it takes determination and stamina to develop your own look. I do agree it takes a degree of talent or skill, but like any obscure recreation it all comes down to passion and desire.

Street Fashion
A more generic approach

If you want to be a trend setter, a cool customer, a unique snowflake then you can.It just takes being attentive to the world around you and scrutinising those who’s sense of style you admire. Then modifying it to your own psyche.

Tristan Blair - What Else!

It's fair to say after trawling boutique after fabulous boutique in this beautiful city, there is noone aside from Massarro of course, who quite puts the same shine on a pair of shoes than Australian Designer Tristan Blair.

He is elusive, demure and completely humble about his creativity. I once attempted to help him source a shoe manufacturer in Brazil. He had become great friends with a man and his chicken in Bali and was loathe to change. Given my experiences in working with Brazilian timeframes I can understand why. Nothing quite happens fast enough in that country. Needless to say in a Summer that sports cotton candy and casual style you cant go past his new collection "Wonderful Armour

Fresh from an early morning breakfast, the family and I headed to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney on Saturday morning last. As well as having a Special FX exhibit to keep the rest of them occupied, the Young Blood Designers Market was on and the Fashion from Fleece exhibit featured as part of Sydney Design 07.
