Ridley Scott announces Gucci film
According to the website zeenews.com Oscar winning Director and visual stylist Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator) is in talks to helm a film all about the Gucci Fashion Dynasty.
Not as empty an idea as it might first appear, the story will focus on the feuds from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. The family drama, power struggles and tragedy of the tumultuous Gucci clan is ripe with juicy plot material.
Maurizio, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci took over the label in 1983 after a decade of infighting and then was assassinated in 1995. In 1998 it was proven that his wife Patrizia Reggiani had orchestrated the murder. This event will most likely be pivotal in the scripting of the as yet untitled project.
Formed in 1906 the Italian label began by specialising in leather bags for the equestrian set. Expanding over the years to open its first Boutique in 1938, the prestigious accessories that were developed in the proceeding years still stand as benchmarks today.
No stranger to the glamour industry, Ridley Scott made his name with bold, revolutionary advertisements before launching a successful cinema career. His eye for detail is comparable to the finest designers. The aesthetic atmosphere he has sometimes achieved in his work could bolster the experience considerably and makes him a logical choice.
All reports seem positive and right now its seems the filmmaker is passionate about the idea, Still in the early gestation period at the moment the whole thing could end up amounting to nothing, after all no one has signed on the dotted line…yet.
