The 49th Grammy Awards

I was very excited to see that the Red Carpet of the 49th Grammy Awards (which took place yesterday in LA) delivered some very glamorous looks, from the ladies and the gents alike. Here I’ve posted some pics of my 10 favourite outfits, and a few that I can’t quite understand.
This look worn by Christina Ricci is my favourite by far, and there weren’t any others like it. I love the elegant cut, diagonal lines and modest train. The detailed layers of fabric and gold trim give the gown a romantic feel, but Christina keeps it simple wearing only a cuff and simple black clutch with her hair down in layers. Truly elegant!
In a close second is this Dolce and Gabbana dress worn by Hilary Duff. I love the mix of lace and metallic (very hot at the moment it seems), cinched at the waist and teamed with patent leather heels. The length is perfect for young Hilary, as it shows just the right amount of leg. Combined with her curly hairstyle, she looks like quite the rocker, yet still so classy.
17 year-old Chris Brown was my favourite of the boys, second only to his young nephew who looked too cute in his pale blue shirt and classy striped vest. Chris wore a matching spotted vest and topped it off with a gold tie and shiny black Fedora Hat.
Paula Abdul was an image of elegance, wearing a show stopping, floor-length Valentino gown in sparkly black and white. The empire line creates a perfect silhouette on her curvy body, and the classic up-do and simple drop earrings ensure the halter style dress speaks for itself.
Fergie was another funky femme wearing metallic for the occasion, glittering in this mini Bagdley Mischka tunic, with matching metallic shoes and clutch, and excessive, yet still funky, dangly earrings and a messy pony.
Christina Aguilera dazzled in this floor length, pale pink Ungaro gown with purple trim and contrasting empire line. She makes the gown appear girly and playful by adding thick white hoop earrings and matching bangles, and her platinum blonde hair worn unusually messy. Topped off by a glowing summer tan! Far less polished than usual, but definitely working in her favour.
Shakira stood out in this cherry red Carolina Herrera gown, a strapless dress with a simple ribbon at the empire line in contrasting fabrics. She sexed it up with her signature messy curls.
Beyonce also followed the trend in metallic, showing off her famous booty in this jewelled Armani gown. The structured bodice, cinched at the waist and layered at the skirt, create a sophisticated look for Beyonce, toned down with sleek cascading waves. I also love the shiny shoes!
Another one in shimmering in metallic (quite unexpectedly) was my favourite leading man, Jamie fox, wearing a shiny grey blazer over a silky black shirt.
And number ten on my list of favourites is RnB queen Mary J Blige in this Grecian inspired, metallic (surprise!) floor-length gown, with a plunging neckline belted at the waist. I’m not really a fan off the braids, but the up do does compliment this dramatic outfit.
And here’s two that I couldn’t explain…
